Trio Vertex are a hand-to-trapeze trio based in London, England making a return to Seattle in our Residency at Lotte Hotel Seattle. Guests of our show in Woodinville, WA may recall two of these members – Nathan Price and Isis Clegg-Venell – and their incredible act on roller skates from 2019!

Now, with the addition of Cornelius Atkinson, these three introduce Seattle to hand-to-trapeze, an exciting new circus discipline combining the death-defying techniques of doubles trapeze, with the acrobatic spectacle of hand-to-hand. You’ll have to see it to believe it!

Get to know the people behind the artistry – here are 7 questions with Trio Vertex!

Where are you guys from and how did you first connect to Teatro ZinZanni?

We’re from London, England. Isis and Nathan have known each other for 15 years and have been working with each other since 2009! We met Cornelius in 2018 working on a Cirque du Soleil show and we’ve been working as a trio since 2020. 

How long have each of you been performing? How did you each get started?

Nathan and Cornelius both did youth circus, but Isis is the one with the biggest head start. She started doing ballet and then later gymnastics from the age of 3!

You’re not from Seattle, but you did perform in Woodinville before with Teatro ZinZanni… in that time, did you establish a favorite local landmark? If so, what is it?

Yes. Unquestionably. Thai Woodinville. Probably the best Thai food we’ve ever had. We still reminisce about ’Thai Woody’, as we like to call it, to this day. You can find us out there on our days off.

How do you think the Teatro ZinZanni show experience differs from other productions or shows you’ve been part of?

I don’t think there’s anywhere quite as crazy as TZ! I think there’s a lot of places who do each of the component parts; food, show, ambience, music really well but I can’t think of anyone who brings them all together in the way TZ does!

If you had to describe your act in three words – what would they be?

Fast. Daring. Unique. 

Besides circus – what else do you guys do for fun? 

We love a board game. Codenames is an absolute classic. Isis and Cornelius love hiking and being out in nature so this is of course one of the best places in the world for that.  And Nathan during his downtime mindlessly, endlessly scrolls through the void that is Instagram. 

Can you give us a sneak peek of the atmosphere or vibe the audience can expect from the upcoming Teatro ZinZanni show in your own words?

It’s definitely gonna be fun, unexpected and will blow your socks off. So make sure you bring a spare pair!
