The Story of Gansango

When the oldest percussionist in an African village dies, the villagers must find a way to replace him. To help make this decision, the village chief puts all of the instruments to a test. Campers will reenact this story using traditional African music and dance taught by Etienne Cakpo from Benin, and incorporate acrobatics and juggling taught by Teatro ZinZanni’s circus artists.

The Firebird, The Mitten, and Baba Yaga are among the stories shared throughout Eastern Europe. Teatro ZinZanni artists join with teachers and members of the Radost Folk Ensemble to retell some of these legends. Campers will share these folk tales through a blend of theatre and circus arts including acrobatics, juggling and movement.

She is known throughout the world for her aerial choreography, seen recently in acts like Pink, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift. Dreya has also appeared in several dinner shows at Teatro ZinZanni. This week focuses on aerial arts, acrobatics, and how to tell a story through movement.
