An Interview with singer

Lucy Darling

Known the world over for her wit, her charm, and exceptionally good hair, Lucy Darling’s shows are a wonderful mix of playful improvisational comedy, witty writing, and impossible magical feats.

Miss Darling is a 15-time award-winning entertainer featured in the Guinness Book of World Records (2014), Ripley’s Believe it or Not (2015), and the 2019 recipient of the prestigious Allan Slaight Award. Lucy has received the Carlton Award in comedy from the Magic Circle and has been voted Stage Magician of the Year at the Magic Castle two years in a row!

We are beside ourselves to be presenting her talents as part of the Teatro Zinzanni show in Chicago opening October 5, 2023. So, it is with great pleasure that we offer up a little insight into who this incredible performer is. Gobble it up, then snag tickets to see her work her stuff in the luscious Spiegeltent Zazou.

Where are you from, and how did you first connect to Teatro ZinZanni?

I am originally from Canada, but Lucy is from everywhere 🙂

I saw my first Teatro ZinZanni show during my residency at the Chicago Magic Lounge two years ago and fell in love with the show. It is a dream to be a part of that great legacy.

How long have you been performing?

My 20-year showbiz anniversary will be on October 3.

Where do you like to visit in Chicago?

I love the museums in Chicago and the wonderful magic community.

How do you think the Teatro ZinZanni show experience differs from other productions or shows you’ve been part of?

This show is a full experience; the world-building is unbelievable. I remembered not wanting to leave that world, and now, as a part of the cast, I don’t have to.

If you had to describe your act in three words – what would they be?

Throwback, magical, drag.

Besides magic- what else do you do for fun?

I am a magician, and magic is my profession and hobby. It is all-consuming. However, cocktails and sleeping in are a pleasure of mine that borders on a hobby.

Can you give us a sneak peek of the atmosphere or vibe the audience can expect from the upcoming Teatro ZinZanni show in your own words?

A magical romance with food 🙂
