An Interview with performer

Danila Bim

Danila Bim is a multidisciplinary artist, performer, producer, and director who has spent the last two decades expanding her skills as a world-class acrobat. Conceiving, creating, and performing original acts on Cirque Du Soleil, Palazzo, Ringling Bros, and many more prestigious stages.

How’s your experience been with Teatro ZinZanni’s Love, Chaos, & Dinner?

It’s been amazing! I am learning so much as a performer. I can give you so many reasons why I love Zinzanni. From the intimate environment to the respectful, open, talented cast and crew.  But mostly the opportunity to play with audiences during animation. To connect with them and make them laugh. It’s been my favorite part of the whole show.

Where are you from, and how did you first connect with Teatro ZinZanni?

I am from São Paulo, Brazil. I first saw a ZinZanni in 2013 in Seattle. I have a picture of it with Joe DePaul (Show Director)  when he pulled me on stage for audience participation.

How long have you been performing? How did you get started?

I joined a circus troupe to diversify my skills and apply them to my work as a dancer. But the circus’s possibilities and challenges immediately fascinated and overwhelmed me. I ran away with the circus 19 years ago. Since then, I have traveled to over 35 countries, performed with many entertainment companies, and made lifelong friends.

What are some of your favorite places in Chicago?

I love Anish Kapoor sculpture at the Millennium Park. The Cloud Gate.

When you’re not performing, how do you spend your free time?

I love learning, creating, and playing my trombone, and trying new things.

How do you think the Teatro ZinZanni show experience differs from other productions or shows you’ve been part of?

Teatro ZinZanni is so unique. You are immediately transported to a different world when you enter the tent. The comedy, the world-class circus acts, the live band. It’s such an intimate environment. The audience is so close to the stage. You can see every detail. And the amazing dinner! It’s something you will never experience on your cellphone screen. You have to come and be a part of it.

If you had to describe your act in three words – what would they be?
